UnPrisoned,' led by Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo, is set to return for a second season on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ in other regions, according to a report by Deadline.
In addition to the show's renewal, Kerry Washington has prolonged her overall deal with ABC Signature, the studio responsible for 'UnPrisoned.' The series, which premiered as Onyx Collective's most-watched on Hulu in March, marks the brand's first foray into dramedy.
Based on the life of creator Tracy McMillan, 'UnPrisoned' revolves around Paige Alexander (Washington), a relationship therapist, social media influencer, and single mom. Her meticulously ordered life takes a turn when her father, Edwin Alexander (Lindo), is released from prison and moves in with her and her teenage son.
Already in progress, the season 2 writers' room for the series is in operation. Tracy McMillan, Yvette Lee Bowser, Kerry Washington, and Pilar Savone, through their Simpson Street production company, along with Delroy Lindo, executive produce the show. Joy Gorman Wettels and Jen Braeden also hold executive producer roles.
Under a new three-year exclusive TV deal, Kerry Washington, through her Simpson Street banner, will produce projects for ABC Signature across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. The deal extends the collaboration between Simpson Street and Disney Television Studios since 2016.
