Musk's new role in Trump administration
CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk, is now leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an outside advisory panel tasked with conducting massive cuts to the federal government.
Musk targeted USAID to slash trillions from the federal budget. The Trump administration will shift the remaining parts of the agency to the State Department, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio serving as its acting administrator.
He recently claimed on social media that “We spent the weekend feeding USAID into the wood chipper,” and he called the agency a “criminal organization” with no basis for his claim.
Dismantling USAID
In less than two weeks, Musk, alongside the Trump administration, managed to dismantle the $40 billion foreign assistance agency, as per reports. The cuts have disrupted the lives of USAID’s 10,000 employees and the thousands of contractors working with them.
