Kashi Vishwanath area has put in place a host of special vehicular movement rules for January 1, 2024.
According to an order from the city administration, the whole area will be a no-vehicle zone on that day, reports said.
On this day, a huge number of people pay a visit to the temple. The new rules are aimed at preventing traffic jams and stopping people from causing unnecessary ruckus in vicinity of the temple.
There is also a special directive for visitors coming for darshan.
Devotees will only be permitted to do darshan from a distance (a practice known as Jhaki darshan).
This means they will not be allowed to do a Sparsh darshan (seek blessings by the idol).
No vehicle will be permitted to come from Maidagin and Godaulia side to gate number four, say the directions by Chief Executive Officer, Varanasi, Dr Sunil Kumar Verma.
Devotees have been asked to visit the temple on foot on January 1. VIPs and specially-abled people will be ferried up to gate number four by e-rickshaw or golf cart.
