Pankaj Oswal, Vasundhara Oswal, has been in 'illegal' detention in Uganda since the last 25 days. Vasundhara was detained in the East African country due to serious criminal charges against her, including kidnapping and murder. Her family claims she has been illegally detained without trial, citing «corporate and political manipulation». Her father has requested for an international intervention for Vasundhara's release.
The accusations levelled against Vasundhara revolve around Mukesh Menaria, a former employee of the Oswal family. Pankaj Oswal in a letter to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has claimed that Vasundhara Oswal's detention stemmed from false and fabricated accusations made by an ex employee of the Oswal family.

The ex-employee had stolen valuable assets and taken a $2,00,000 loans with the Oswal family as guarantors. Pankaj Oswal has claimed that the individual's accusations, motivated by a desire to avoid repayment, led to his daughter Vasundhara's arrest. In response, Oswal filed an urgent appeal with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, urging the UN to investigate the case and intervene.
