Vedanta Group chairman Anil Agarwal today revealed his favourite drink: Sattu kar Sharbat. In a Twitter post, Agarwal said that it is made of sattu (roasted gram flour), jaggery, and a ping of black salt. It is a 'tasty, affordable, organic, and healthy protein shake," added the billionaire.
«My old friend from Patna visited me today and brought my favourite sattu ka sharbat…I don’t know how many of you have heard of this refreshing drink made with sattu, thoda sa gur, and chutki bhar kala namak. In words of my young team, yeh hai India ka OG tasty, affordable, organic, and healthy protein shake,» Anil Agarwal said in a tweet. A nostalgic Agarwal said that the drink reminded him of his childhood days.
Agarwal recalled how his and his friend's mother used to offer them a bucket full of sattu ka sharbat, loaded with ice, after they came home drenched in sweat after playing during the holidays. «It reminded me of bachpan ki meethi yaadein. Mein aur mere dost holidays mein khel kar paseene se bheeghe ghar aate aur hamari maa ji would give us a cold glass of sattu sherbat, badi si pital ki baalti mein, khoob saari baraf mein bana...it would take all our thakaan away,» tweeted Agarwal.
The Vedanta Group chairman said that Indian households have their own simple, cheap, and unique sharbats. He also asked Twitter users to share their own sharbat recipes. The post has garnered over 81,000 views, and many have also commented on it.
Many users agreed with Agarwal that it was indeed quite tasty. However, one such Twitter user pointed out that it is called Sattu ka Ghol and not Sharbat. Another user also lamented the lack of such sharbats in the market.
