Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma recently revealed that a huge chunk of all digital transactions on the payment app revolved around food!
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, the Paytm boss shared a snapshot of all of his digital payments on the app and wrote, “#PaytmRecap2023 Expectedly food is my biggest number of payments in the year. Check yours:http://paytm.com/recap.”
In the picture, the app displays the message “You have spent the most on food!” There is also a congratulatory message: “Vijay crowned as 2023 Foodie Of The Year, Rs 2 lakh spent on food!”
Some of the popular digital stores, the Paytm founder ordered from, included Zomato Limited (95 payments), Haldiram Skymark 98 (14 payments), Bikanervala (11 payments), Kuremal S Kulfi (10 payments, etc).
Retweeting the post, Dr Shriram Nene, the husband of Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit wrote, “That’s why we are such good friends!”
However, despite his overwhelming love for all things gastronomical, Sharma was no match for a certain Mumbaikar when it came to ordering food!
In a year-end report, food delivery giant Zomato revealed the name of the individual who placed the most orders. It turned out to be a food-crazy Mumbaikar named Hanees. Hanees ordered about 3,580 orders on the app in 2023! He placed about nine orders on Zomato on an average per day.
Biryani remains the numero uno when it comes to ordering takeout.
In the year-end report, Zomato revealed that over 10.09 crore of biryani bowls and packets were ordered this year. This was followed by pizza, with about 7.45 crore orders.
