Court of Arbitration for Sports' (CAS) verdict, Vinesh Phogat might have hinted at a comeback and a larger goal of 2032 Olympics through a social media post on Friday.
Phogat shared an emotional message two days post CAS dismissing her appeal for a joint silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after being disqualified for being 100 grams overweight moments before her gold medal bout.
Following a disheartening disqualification from the wrestling final, Vinesh announced her retirement from the sport, citing a loss of strength and the inability to continue.
The 29-year-old gave an emotional account of her wrestling career and her journey from childhood. Vinesh reminisced about her early aspirations, her father's dreams for her, and her mother's sacrifices that fuelled her determination. She acknowledged her husband, Somvir, for being her constant pillar of strength throughout her career.
The former World No. 1 also extended her gratitude to her support team, particularly Dinshaw Padiwalla, the Chief Medical Officer for the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024.
However, the post was not just a gratitude message but a probable hint at her return on the mat. Vinesh, in her heartfelt message, noted that she's unsure of what the future holds and sees Paris Olympics as an unfinished business.
