Amar Sirohi, a well-known food blogger, has set social media abuzz with a picture of a vibrant green jalebi, which he has aptly named "Mountain Dew Jalebi." While the image has been making rounds online, Sirohi clarifies that the distinct color of these jalebis is not due to the addition of green food coloring or the use of the popular soda brand, but rather a unique ingredient. In his social media post, Sirohi explains, «These jalebis are not green because of Mountain Dew or the addition of green food color.
These are actually AVAREBELE JILEBI, quite popular in Bangalore. These are made of Hyacinth Beans or more popularly known by the locals as Avarebele in Karnataka.» He goes on to elaborate, «The unique flavor of the Avarebele is so popular that there is even a festival/fair dedicated to it — 'Avarekai Mela.' These avarebele jalebis not only looked different, but their taste was also quite distinct from regular jalebis.» Although Sirohi originally shared the picture in June, it has recently gained significant attention from netizens, piquing their curiosity and generating excitement.
