Israeli forces have reportedly reached Qatana, six miles into Syrian territory from the demilitarized zone near the Golan Heights. While Israel insists its operations aim to prevent terrorism and protect national security, its actions have drawn criticism from Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel seeks to establish a demilitarized zone in southern Syria, devoid of weapons and militant threats, to secure its borders without maintaining a permanent presence.

Airstrikes by Israeli forces have decimated much of Syria’s military infrastructure, including helicopters, jets, and Republican Guard assets. Over 200 raids have left Syrian military capacity severely weakened, according to regional security sources.
