Sudha Murty, the 73-year-old philanthropist and former Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the President of India.

Born into a Deshastha Madhva Brahmin family in Karnataka, Sudha Murty maintains a strong connection to her roots. Her daughter, Akshata, married to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, adds another dimension to the family's influence on global affairs.
