Dolly Sohi, renowned for her roles in television series such as «Jhanak» and «Bhabhi,» passed away on Friday morning at a hospital in Navi Mumbai after battling cervical cancer. Tragically, her younger sister Amandeep Sohi, also an actress, had succumbed to jaundice just hours before. Dolly, aged 48, had been diagnosed with cervical cancer approximately six months ago and had been undergoing treatment.
Manpreet, the siblings' brother, confirmed Dolly's passing, stating that she breathed her last around 4:00 am, Dolly's sister Amandeep, known for her role in the TV series "Badtameez Dil," had passed away the previous night due to jaundice at DY Patil Hospital.
Regarding a recent controversy involving Poonam Pandey's fake death stunt aimed at raising awareness about cervical cancer, Dolly had criticized Pandey's insensitivity on a television show, emphasizing the emotional impact such stunts can have on those affected by the disease. «This is a very sensitive topic. This is a very sensitive for a person dealing with it. How can you be so insensitive just to get little publicity. Don't play with other's emotions,» Dolly said.
Dolly's notable performances extended beyond «Jhanak» and «Bhabhi» to include appearances in shows like «Kkusum,» «Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi,» «Kumkum Bhagya,» and «Parineetii.»
In her final Instagram post on February 20, Dolly had requested prayers from her fans and followers, acknowledging the power of prayer as a source of strength.
