Prince Harry has no plans to return to the UK. At a recent conference, the Duke of Sussex revealed that he was perfectly content living in America. In a conversation with Andrew Sorkin at The New York Times Dealbook Summit on Wednesday, Harry stated he has no wish to relocate to his motherland. He said that his life in the US was what his late mother, Princess Diana, would have wanted.
Harry shared that his family has found a level of freedom and privacy in California that would have been impossible in the UK due to security concerns. His security arrangements were reduced after stepping down as a working royal, prompting him to take legal action over changes to his police protection when visiting Britain.
During the interview, Harry reflected on how life in the public eye has affected his mental health and drew parallels to his late mother, Princess Diana. She tragically lost her life in a 1997 car crash in Paris while being pursued by paparazzi.
«Living in that bubble often feels like there’s no escape,» Harry said, describing the emotional struggles he faced. He admitted that his mother’s death left him feeling powerless as a child, sparking an ongoing inner conflict.
«Feeling helpless has always been one of my biggest challenges,» he revealed, adding that his greatest fear is experiencing a similar tragedy involving himself, his wife Meghan, or their children.
For now, Harry said his priority is «being the best husband and father I can be.»
