One student's allocation status says ‘verified by convener', but it hasn't been processed further. Another student says she was never given the fee payment link after allocation. On contacting the college, they were told the seats were already full. This has left the students, all high-scorers, and their families in a catch-22 situation as they are not able to opt for their second choice now.
According to a senior university official, the number of such candidates is 22.
«My daughter got a score of over 780 out of 800 in CUET and was allocated a seat in St Stephen's College under the unreserved category. According to the allocation status, it has been ‘verified by convener'. However, nothing happened after that. It was her first preference, so there is no option to ‘upgrade'. It is the fundamental right of the child to be able to ‘upgrade'. They have killed that option in this case. I have been calling Stephen's helpline all day. They are saying it is not their responsibility, and whatever seats they had, they filled them. Her prospects of getting into any other college have vanished. What are we supposed to do now?» said an aggrieved mother.
