Since the Brentwood home sold for $8.35 million in July 2023, its future has been the subject of intense discussion. Monroe spent six months residing in the house before taking her own life on August 4, 1962. In the 60 years after her death, the one-story, Spanish-style home underwent 14 different ownership changes and numerous renovations, as quoted in a report by The US Sun.

After purchasing it in July 2023, the most recent owners are Brinah Milstein, a real estate heiress, and Roy Bank, her husband, a TV producer.
Their goal is to demolish Monroe's old home, and they live next door. After purchasing it, they obtained a demolition permit; however, their plans were thwarted in 2024 when the city named the house a historic cultural monument.In response, the owners petitioned the Los Angeles Superior Court in May 2024.
