President Droupadi Murmu surprised everyone by sharing her future plans during her visit to Patna. As per a TOI report, she expressed her desire to return to her village and engage in farming once her tenure as President comes to an end.
Speaking at the inauguration of Bihar's 4th agriculture roadmap, she stated, "President ke baad jana hai gaon kheti karne" (After my presidency, I want to go to the village and do farming).
Emphasizing her connection to farmers, Murmu referred to herself as a "kisan ki beti" (daughter of a farmer) and expressed her intention to learn about farming techniques, grain storage, and increasing crop productivity from the farmers in Bihar.
Furthermore, she highlighted her affiliation with Bihar, stating that her home state, Odisha, shares a historical connection with Bihar.
She justified calling herself a «Bihari» by referencing the historical separation of Bihar and Odisha from the Bengal Presidency on March 22, 1912. She also mentioned that despite this being her first visit to Bihar, her six-year tenure as the governor of neighboring Jharkhand allowed her to closely understand the culture and lifestyle of Bihar.
President Droupadi Murmu is notable for being the first person from the tribal community to hold the office of President.
