Will 'seriously injured' Jasprit Bumrah miss the rest of IPL 2025? Latest update on Mumbai Indians' pacer's return
IPL 2025 Mumbai Indians' camp may be longer than expected. The star pacer is yet to bowl at full intensity at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) as his workload is being increased gradually to prevent a potential stress fracture of the back, sources have told The Times of India (TOI).
Bumrah, who suffered a lower back injury during the Sydney Test against Australia in January, was initially expected to join Mumbai Indians (MI) by April 1.
However, given his fitness concerns and India's upcoming five-Test series in England immediately after the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is treading cautiously with his return.
No fixed timeline yet for Bumrah
While Bumrah is clinically fit, the BCCI medical team is in no hurry to rush him back into action. “Bumrah’s injury is a bit more serious. The medical team wants to ensure he doesn’t suffer a stress fracture. Bumrah himself is being careful. He is bowling at the CoE but it could take longer to get back in full swing. No definite timeline has been set yet, but one hopes he gets back by mid-April,” a source told TOI.

The selectors and team management are already factoring in the possibility that Bumrah might not be able to play all five Tests in England. His participation in the remainder of IPL 2025 remains uncertain, with his return being assessed on a week-to-week basis.
