Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are set to wed on June 23 in a civil ceremony, marking a significant moment in their relationship. The announcement has sparked widespread interest and speculation, primarily due to their differing religious backgrounds. However, Iqbal Ratanasi, Zaheer's father, has confirmed that Sonakshi will not convert to Islam following their marriage. He emphasized that the wedding will be a civil event, devoid of both Muslim and Hindu rituals.
Speaking to the Free Press Journal, Ratanasi confirmed, «Sonakshi will not convert to Islam after the couple gets married. The wedding will neither have Muslim rituals nor Hindu rituals. It will be a civil marriage.» He further emphasized, «She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever.»
Ratanasi’s statements come amid rumors and speculations surrounding the interfaith marriage. Initially, there were reports suggesting that Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi’s father, had reservations about the union. However, these concerns were dispelled after the families came together for a dinner and posed for the paparazzi, showing their united front.
