Rohit Sharma had used as many as nine bowlers, including the captain himself. Among the part-timers, Rohit used Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav(SKY)and himself. Kohli bowled three overs while Gill and Yadav two overs each.
Rohit Sharma, who bowled just 5 ball, and Kohli took a wicket each. Having already sealed the semi-final berth much before the Netherlands match, Indian skipper wanted to try something «different» ahead of the semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday.
In a post match presentation after India beat Netherlands by 160 runs, Rohit Sharma said trying out more bowling options was always in his mind «you have five bowlers»
«You want to create [those] options within the team and I think we have that option now.
Today, we had nine options. It's important. This was the game where we could have tried certain things,» he said.
Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah was also seen bowling wide yorkers in the match, when it was not need. " The seamers going out there and bowling [those] wide yorkers when it was not needed. But we wanted to do that, as a team, as a bowling unit we wanted to try and do something different and see what we can achieve," Rohit said.
