As per reports, winter has India under its thrall! On Saturday, Delhi recorded a temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius!
While winter may come as a much-welcome relief from the cruel summer and the sweltering heat, it also comes with its own set of problems. Aside from an increased propensity for coughs and colds, winter may also cause more weight gain!
Why Do We Gain Weight During Winter?
The reason is very simple. As the mercury level drops, most people may wince at the idea of leaving the comfort of their beds. That often leads to more days of skipped exercises. Decreased physical activity can lead to weight gain. Moreover, we often crave comfort foods which often consist of processed food items — this causes more weight gain.
How To Shed Fat When It Gets Cold?
- Exercise indoors. Don’t feel like going to the gym? Practise some jogging exercises in your home. Go for a walk after meals.
- Take the stairs. Resist the urge to hop on the elevator. Taking the stairs can help you get some physical activity and burn calories.
- Control the urge to order a takeout. As the temperature drops, you may feel tempted to order a chicken noodle soup and some momos. However, refrain from making it a regular habit.
- Watch what you eat. Steer clear from fried food, and soft drinks such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Avoid processed foods such as frozen meat and chips as much as you can.
