Officials have announced that a Korean operator has been selected to manage the exhibition halls and convention center under a revenue-sharing model.
The inauguration of the first phase of this ambitious project took place last Sunday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over the ceremony.
Over the next two years, Yashobhoomi is poised to host more than 100 exhibitions and over 100 conventions, covering a wide range of sectors, including digital innovation, hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, automobile, infrastructure, and travel and tourism.
Sumita Dawra, special secretary at the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), confirmed, «A Korean operator was selected through international bidding to run the complex on a revenue-sharing model. The commissioning date for Yashobhoomi is October 1.»
Described as India's largest convention and exhibition center by Rajesh Kumar Singh, secretary of DPIIT, Yashobhoomi spans a vast 221 acres and was constructed at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore.
The first phase of the project boasts two impressive exhibition halls, a convention center with an impressive capacity of 11,000 people, and an underground parking facility capable of accommodating over 3,000 cars.
The two exhibition halls, measuring 32,000 and 28,000 square meters respectively, offer the flexibility to be converted into eight smaller halls. Notably, the convention center's main auditorium features automated retractable seating for up to 6,000 attendees.
