Indian Council for Medical Research researchers at Kasturba Medical College & Hospital at Manipal Academy of Heart Education discovered the possibility of yoga therapy as a beneficial supplement to controlling heart failure.
Heart failure is a type of cardiac issue that occurs when the heart muscle becomes weak or stiff, making it difficult for the heart to function correctly. This can result in difficulties such as water accumulation, difficulty breathing, and other complications.
The study involved 75 heart failure patients at a specialized care center.
In the six months to a year preceding the research, these individuals had received therapies such as cardiac surgeries or device therapy. The participants were separated into two groups: one had yoga therapy in addition to their regular medical care, and the other received their regular medical treatment.
They used unique tests at different periods to monitor the patients' cardiac health.
This study's findings were presented at a major medical conference. «Yoga combines techniques for both the mind and the body and can help with physical and mental well-being,» said Ajit Singh, the main researcher.
