Modi will share the dais with JDS stalwarts HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy at a public rally in Mysuru at 5 pm today, a first public show of joint campaigning by leaders of the two parties as they seek to retain NDA’s 2019 tally in the face of stiff resistance from the ruling Congress. The public meeting will take place at Maharaja Grounds in Mysore.
This is the first major campaign tour by the PM in Karnataka after his public meeting at AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge’s home turf of Kalaburagi, last month.
The PM will address a campaign rally in Mysuru before heading to Mangaluru to hold a roadshow at 7.15 pm from Narayana Guru Circle to Nav Bharath Circle. The BJP will cover six Lok Sabha constituencies from the two events.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on the PM's visit, posted on X: «You do not visit us during floods, nor during droughts, but you never miss an election campaign. Despite this, six and a half crore Kannadigas eagerly await your arrival. However, they have some pressing questions and expect answers… Will you meet their expectations that you will assist during droughts, contribute more through tax share, and fulfill promises of special support?»
In Mysuru, the party will have a big rally with leaders from both parties including veteran leader BS Yediyurappa, state unit chief BY Vijayendra and Mandya MP Sumalatha participating. In Mangaluru, Modi will lead a 2-km roadshow, party general secretary Sunil Kumar Karkala told ET.
