Fidias Panayiotou, a popular YouTuber and social media comedy sensation, is now in the spotlight of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for allegedly riding the city's mass transit system without a valid ticket and flaunting this act on his social media platform.
Fidias, a Cyprus-based content creator, who humorously labels himself a 'professional mistake maker' on his social media profiles, boasts a substantial following of over 2.26 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Recently, he shared a video titled 'How to sneak into the Indian Metro,' which quickly went viral.
The BMRCL's Managing Director, Anjum Parwez, expressed strong disapproval, stating, «I have seen the video of a person entering the platform without a ticket and traveling on the Metro.
Such behavior is not acceptable. I have asked the official concerned to file a criminal case against the person.» The video captured Fidias bypassing the turnstile, which is a gate that commuters must pass through both when entering and exiting the station, without utilizing a smartcard or token.
Notably, turnstile jumping is considered a punishable offense in several foreign countries.
