Zomato has introduced a «special weekend» offer for its Gold membership program, subtly referencing their CEO, Deepinder Goyal, who recently made headlines for an unusual ₹20 lakh job offer. The company posted on X (formerly Twitter) with the message, «update from CEO.»
Earlier this month, Goyal announced that he was looking for a Chief of Staff, stating that the candidate would need to pay a ₹20 lakh «fee» and work for free. He later clarified that the steep fee was intended as a «filter» and would not actually be collected.
In a playful jab at the earlier controversy, Zomato's social media team shared a quirky post promoting its weekend offer, humorously claiming it was approved by the «Chief of Marketing Staff,» another subtle dig at the situation.
The post captioned, special offer for this weekend by chief of marketing staff, reads “ update from CEO: no need to pay us Rs 20 lakh just pay us Rs 30 for 6 months of Zomato gold.”
Recently, Deepinder Goyal, the founder and CEO of Zomato, has decided to forgo his salary for an additional two years, extending the waiver until March 31, 2026, the company disclosed in its qualified institutional placement (QIP) document.
