PM Modi welcomed the sustained and joint efforts being made by the teams on both sides for the implementation of decisions taken during his recent visits and meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin to further strengthen the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said. They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in various areas, including trade and economic ties, energy and connectivity, it said. PM Modi extended his warm greetings to President Putin and said that he looked forward to continued exchanges with him, according to the statement.

The first-of-its-kind exercise is expected to help secure national strategic objectives in space and integrate India's space capability in military operations, the statement said.

Ecommerce software firm Unicommerce Esolutions said on Monday that it will acquire Gurugram-based shipping automation company Shipway. The deal will be completed in tranches, Unicommerce said. In the first leg, it will purchase a 42.76% stake for Rs 68.4 crore. The balance will be acquired within a year through a merger or stock swap, taking 100% ownership in Shipway. The acquisition is aimed at expanding Unicommerce’s product suite to include solutions for courier aggregation, shipping automation and returns reduction, covering its offerings from pre-purchase to post-purchase segments of ecommerce.

Supreme Court on Monday stayed a Calcutta High Court's order directing a CBI probe into the alleged torture of a woman in police custody after her arrest over protests against the rape and murder of a doctor of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan asked the West Bengal government to submit a list of seven IPS officers, including five women, who could be included in a fresh Special Investigation Team (SIT) for probing the custodial torture case. The order was passed on an appeal filed by the West Bengal government which had stated the high court had erroneously passed the order directing a CBI probe and the state police was capable of the investigation. On November 6, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court upheld an order of a single judge directing a CBI investigation into the allegations levelled by the woman.

These PMJDY accounts are becoming due for periodic updation or re-KYC now after 10 years. Nagaraju chaired a meeting with all stakeholders for carrying out fresh Know Your Customer (re-KYC) process for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account holders, the finance ministry said in a statement. During the meeting, Nagaraju suggested using all means for doing re-KYC — such as fingerprints, face recognition, taking declarations where no change in KYC documents occurred — through all channels like ATM, mobile banking, internet banking, and other available digital channels.

Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the Securities and Exchange Board of India's appeals against a Securities Appellate Tribunal’s (SAT) July order that set aside the market regulator's penalty of Rs 25 crore imposed on Reliance Industries (RIL), its promoters Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani and others in April 2021 for violating takeover norms in a case related to the acquisition of RIL shares between 1994-2000. The apex court also dismissed another Sebi appeal against SAT’s December 4 order that set aside the Rs 25-crore penalty imposed by the market regulator on RIL, Rs 15 crore on Mukesh Ambani, Rs 20 crore on Navi Mumbai SEZ and Rs 10 crore on Mumbai SEZ for their alleged role in the manipulation of prices of Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL)s shares in November 2007. While the appellate tribunal had quashed the penalties against Mukesh Ambani, Navi Mumbai SEZ, and Mumbai SEZ in the same case, it upheld SEBI's penalty against Reliance Industries. RPL was absorbed into RIL in 2009.
