Cooper Assurant security country Department politician South Korea calls to avoid impact on US cooperation after 'sensitive' country designation
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) designated South Korea as a 'sensitive' country. The U.S. department has not explained why South Korea was added to the list, which can cause curbs on cooperation, though a DOE spokesperson said Seoul faced no new limits on bilateral cooperation in science and technology from the designation. In a statement relayed by the finance ministry after a ministerial meeting, Choi called on South Korean agencies to actively foster understanding with Washington, and for the industry minister to meet with the U.S. Secretary of Energy this week. Despite the DOE assurances over bilateral cooperation not being impacted, politicians in Seoul have traded blame over the sensitive country designation. The main opposition Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung on Monday criticised the current South Korean government, calling the U.S. move a «perfect diplomatic failure» which is feared could limit cooperation between the countries in the high-tech field.

Target BLOCK President War country Courts Videos Trump administration deports hundreds of immigrants even as a judge orders their removals be stopped
Trump administration has transferred hundreds of immigrants to El Salvador even as a federal judge issued an order temporarily barring the deportations under an 18th century wartime declaration targeting Venezuelan gang members, officials said Sunday. Flights were in the air at the time of the ruling. U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg issued an order Saturday temporarily blocking the deportations, but lawyers told him there were already two planes with immigrants in the air — one headed for El Salvador, the other for Honduras. Boasberg verbally ordered the planes be turned around, but they apparently were not and he did not include the directive in his written order. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, in a statement Sunday, responded to speculation about whether the administration was flouting court orders: «The administration did not 'refuse to comply' with a court order. The order, which had no lawful basis, was issued after terrorist TdA aliens had already been removed from U.S. territory.» The acronym refers to the Tren de Aragua gang, which Trump targeted in his unusual proclamation that was released Saturday In a court filing Sunday, the Department of Justice, which has appealed Boasberg's decision, said it would not use the Trump proclamation he blocked for further deportations if his decision is not overturned.

COST Action Election Department rights UK finance minister Reeves to set out action plan to slash 'red tape'
Labour government will on Monday set out details of how it plans to slash red tape to boost business, as it struggles to deliver growth nine months after winning power. Chancellor Rachel Reeves' shake-up comes after Prime Minister Keir Starmer took aim at the nation's «flabby state», sparking anger from unions who called on him to avoid the «incendiary rhetoric» of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) in the US. The finance ministry said regulators would be summoned to the prime minister's Downing Street office on Monday to hear Reeves announce her «action plan to deliver on the pledge to cut the administrative cost of regulation on business by a quarter». The «radical» plan would cut «costly red tape» such as the «hundreds of pages of guidance on protecting bat habitats which goes far beyond legal requirements», said a statement, referring to the £100 million ($130 million) spent on a bat tunnel by the company building Britain's new high-speed HS2 train line. The tunnel has become a lightning rod for criticism of the planning system, with the Prime Minister describing it as «absurd».
