Quality concerns may threaten over half of India’s spice exports: GTRI
GTRI) Wednesday said that nearly $700 million worth of India’s spice exports to critical markets are at stake due to cascading regulatory actions in many countries, as concerns are being raised about the quality of Indian spices. It cautioned that if the EU follows suit with a rejection across the bloc, it could impact an additional $2.5 billion of India’s spice exports. The US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Malé have raised questions on the quality of spices supplied by leading Indian firms MDH and Everest. India exported spices worth $692.5 million to these countries in FY24. “This issue demands urgent attention and action to uphold the storied reputation of India’s fabled spice garden,” it said, adding that so far the response from Indian authorities has been tepid and formulaic.

South Korea discusses joining part of AUKUS pact with US, UK and Australia
South Korea has held talks about joining part of the AUKUS defence deal between the U.S., Britain and Australia, Defence Minister Shin Won-sik said on Wednesday, only weeks after the pact said it would consider including Japan. Formed in 2021, AUKUS is a two-stage security pact to counteract China's growing power in the Asia Pacific region. While a first stage to give Australia nuclear submarine technology is limited to the core trio, they have raised the possibility of other countries joining a second stage, or «Pillar 2», that aims to share other military technology.

Does India have the squad to win the T20 World Cup?
Of spinners and death over specialists: The best news is the return of Rishabh Pant as wicketkeeper-batsman after recovering from a long injury layoff to make a scarcely believable comeback in the IPL. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also returns to the team after a hiatus, following three great IPL seasons for Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, despite his heroics this season, he’s likely to be a backup to all-rounder and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and left-arm leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, except for the unlikely event of India fielding three spinners.

IndiGo makes long-haul foray, orders 30 wide-body aircraft "There is a linear decline in market share of Indian carriers in international markets beyond 5-6 hours. Light-intensity activity could range from doing chores to making dinner, whereas moderate and vigourous exercise involve more intentional movement such as a brisk walk or a gym workout, researchers said. The ideal daily routine should also include six hours of sitting and five hours of standing, they said. The international team, led by Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, analysed the behaviour of more than 2,000 people within a 24-hour day to determine the right mix of time spent sitting, sleeping, standing and being physically active for desirable health.

McGurk, Stubbs propel DC to 257/4 against MI
Fraser-McGurk gave the scorching Delhi heat competition with a sizzling 27-ball 84 that powered Delhi Capitals to a massive 257 for four against Mumbai Indians in an IPL contest here on Saturday. While McGurk sparkled upfront, Tristan Stubbs dazzled with an unbeaten 48 off 25 balls at the death overs as DC put up a superlative batting effort to register their highest-ever score in IPL. Opening for DC for the second time this season, the 22-year-old Fraser-McGurk equalled his own record for the fastest fifty this season getting the milestone off just 15 balls after the hosts were put in to bat by MI. With McGurk in the middle, it was raining boundaries and sixes at the rather small Arun Jaitley Stadium. He hit 11 fours and six maximums. He got 19 runs off the first over bowled by Luke Wood, setting the tone as he skilfully exploited the field restrictions in the powerplay to nab 92 runs.
