Paytm crisis: Govt panel examining Chinese FDI flow into Paytm Payments Services, says report
foreign direct investment (FDI) from China in Paytm Payments Services Ltd (PPSL), a subsidiary of Paytm parent One97 Communications Ltd, PTI reported citing sources. Paytm Payments Services applied for a licence with the Reserve Bank in November 2020 to operate as a payment aggregator under the guidelines on Regulation of Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways. However, the apex bank rejected PPSL's application in November 2022.

CAA will be in force before Lok Sabha polls: Home Minister Amit Shah
Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be notified and implemented before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, home minister Amit Shah said at the ET Now Global Business Summit on Saturday. He criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's caste, saying the opposition party was twisting facts and creating controversy. The legislation is aimed at conferring citizenship on persecuted non-Muslim migrants, and not to take that status away from anyone, said Shah. It was passed by the Parliament in December 2019, sparking protests at the time, but hasn't been implemented yet. The general elections are expected in April-May.

CAA to be implemented before Lok Sabha polls: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Citizenship Amendment Act, which was passed by the Parliament in December 2019, will be notified and implemented before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. «CAA is an Act of the country, it will be definitely be notified. It will be notified before the polls. CAA will be implemented by the polls, and there should be no confusion around it,» Shah said speaking at the ET Now-Global Business summit here in the national capital. «CAA was a promise of the Congress government. When the country was divided and the minorities were persecuted in those countries, Congress had assured the refugees that they were welcome in India and they will be provided with Indian citizenship. Now they are backtracking,» Shah said.
