Alex Pereira rises to top 5 in ranking after UFC 295 achievement
Pereira won his second UFC championship in just his seventh fight for the promotion. Pereira, who won the middleweight championship last November at MSG, badly hurt Procházka and the fight was stopped at 4:08 of the second round. Procházka had won 13 straight MMA fights, including his first three in UFC. Pereira became the ninth fighter in UFC history to win championships in two weight classes. Pereira scored a superb second-round knockout win over Jiri Prochazka to claim the light heavyweight crown at UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden, 364 days after winning the middleweight title at the same venue. The 36-year-old kickboxer landed a short left hook late in the second frame to stun his Czech opponent and followed it up with a flurry of fists and elbows that further impaired Prochazka, forcing referee Marc Goddard to stop the fight. Brazil's Pereira, who knocked out Israel Adesanya on November 12 last year to win the middleweight belt before losing it in April in a rematch, had some early success with some vicious leg kicks, but Prochazka's precise striking posed a problem. UFC now holds the top-three spots for highest gate at the Garden. Also, Sunday marks 30 years since the company's debut show, UFC 1.

FPIs may have to accept India's rich valuation to tap its growth: Krishna Memani
India presents a promising growth story and, ideally, a sustainable one, but the inflow of investments may not match the scale witnessed in China, said Krishna Memani, chief investment officer at Pennsylvania- based Lafayette College's endowment fund. In an interview with Rajesh Mascarenhas, the seasoned money manager said sectors like healthcare and technology can deliver exceptional growth. Edited excerpts: What is your evaluation of India and where does it fit in your portfolio allocation? India's economic growth will be decent, perhaps not as turbocharged as it has been over the last few years. But it will still be the world's largest or fastest growing economy by a wide metric. Although India is an expensive market, foreign investors may have to accept this reality to participate in its growth potential, hoping that growth justifies the high valuation. However, Indian stakeholders must remain cautious. While India presents a promising growth story and, ideally, a sustainable one, the inflow of investments may not match the scale witnessed in China. Therefore, expectations should not outpace the capital allocation process. India is attracting attention from global fund managers alongside Brazil, albeit for different reasons, making them the focal point in the emerging market landscape.

Global economic jitters: Fitch Ratings predicts 2024 impact from soaring oil price
Fitch Ratings predicts that higher-than-expected oil prices, stemming from potential disruptions in the Middle East's oil supply due to conflicts, could significantly impact global economic growth and lead to a surge in inflation. According to Fitch's Global Economic Outlook (GEO), a scenario with average oil prices of USD 75 per barrel in 2024 and USD 70 per barrel in 2025 could be upended if oil prices spike to USD 120 per barrel in 2024 and USD 100 per barrel in 2025 due to supply restrictions. The simulations, conducted using the Oxford Economics Global Economic Model, reveal a potential 0.4 percentage point (pp) reduction in world Gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2024, with a lingering 0.1 pp lower growth in 2025. Despite the modest rebound anticipated in 2025, Fitch suggests a persistent moderate impact beyond the initial shock. The impact of higher oil prices would be felt across the board, with the absence of significant growth rebound in 2025 indicating a potentially longer-lasting effect on GDP levels in most countries. Notably, the negative growth impact in 2024 ranges from 0.1 pp in Indonesia to a substantial 0.9 pp in Korea, with the US, the Eurozone and Japan experiencing impacts of 0.5 pp. Emerging market countries like South Africa and Turkey would face significant impacts of 0.7 pp, while Russia and Brazil, owing to their reliance on oil production, would experience varied effects. The aggregate impact on the Fitch 20 suggests a global GDP growth shortfall of 0.4 pp in 2024 and 0.1 pp in 2025. Moreover, higher oil prices would lead to elevated inflation rates in 2024, with India, Turkey, and Poland experiencing the highest percentage point rises. Developed economies would witness more

Manchester United vs Luton Town Live streaming: Prediction, kick off, where to watch Premier League match
Manchester United will be hosting Luton Town at iconic Old Trafford in a crucial Premier League match. Erik Ten Hag's Manchester United are at the eighth position in the league and had a topsy-turvy start. Red Devils lost to Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League match earlier this week but won against Fulham in the Premier League last weekend. Manchester United badly require three points and anything less than that against Luton Town will be disappointing. Luton Town are the 17th place in the table and have won just one match out of 11 games this season. They are one place above the relegation zone albeit on goal-difference.

WhatsApp rolls out Protect IP address in calls feature: Here's how to enable it
Protect IP Address in Calls.' With this setting in place, individual calls no longer rely on P2P connections but are rather routed through a server, effectively concealing your IP address from the view of other participants. According to the Meta owned instant messaging platform, they have introduced a novel feature designed to safeguard your IP address while making calls.
