Nice is quietly becoming the coolest destination on the French Riviera
Looking for the sexiest, most fun-loving destination in France this summer? Avert your eyes from Saint-Tropez and look farther east to Nice, dismissed for too long as a retirement community for Europe’s aristocracy. You’ll still spot plenty of heavily tanned white-haired people walking alarmingly over-groomed dogs on the famous seaside Promenade des Anglais. These days, however, they’re joined by joggers, skateboarders and cyclists taking advantage of the countless new bike lanes that have been created since 2008.

UK's Labour Party commits to stamping out anti-India sentiments
UK's Opposition Labour Party, hoping to win a mandate to form a government after the July 4 general election, has committed itself to stamping out anti-India sentiments within its ranks and building a strong strategic partnership with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration. The party's resolution during an annual conference under former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in favour of international intervention in Kashmir was widely seen as having cost it British Indian votes in the 2019 general election.

Kahneman left this world, leaving behind his legacy of insights – that can make you a better investor!
“During World War II, a Jewish child feared being caught out past curfew by a German soldier. Instead, the soldier showed unexpected kindness, giving the child a hug, showing a photo of a kid, and offering him some money. This encounter taught this child that people are complex and interesting” This child was none other than Kahneman, whose fascination with human behaviour and psychology was sparked by his own experiences. Almost anyone who has ever heard the word ‘behavioural finance or economics’ might have heard about or read about ‘Daniel Kahneman’, the famous Nobel prize winner for his stupendous work in the space of uncovering cognitive biases of humans among financial decision making.

IS killed more than 4,000 since Syria territorial defeat: monitor
Islamic State fighters have killed nearly 4,100 people in Syria since 2019 when the jihadists lost their last stronghold in the country, a war monitor said Saturday. IS overran large swathes of Syria and Iraq in 2014, proclaiming a so-called caliphate and launching a reign of terror in June of that year. In March 2019, the jihadist group lost its last scraps of Syrian territory in a Kurdish-led military campaign backed by a US-led coalition, but remnants continue to launch deadly attacks from desert hideouts.

Brexit backlash: Brits now regret their populist revolt
In 2019, Boris Johnson rode to a big election win on a promise to “Get Brexit Done" and finally strike a deal with the European Union for Britain’s departure. Next week, the Conservative Party that delivered Brexit goes to the polls again, this time facing a deficit of more than 20 percentage points and almost certain defeat by the opposition Labour Party. The only question, it seems, is the scale of the wipeout for the hapless Rishi Sunak and his Tories.

Britain’s Conservative Party faces up to its own mortality
suspicious bets on a July election just before it was announced; two candidates have been dropped by the party. (Several police officers are also being investigated.) This is misconduct at its most tinpot: risking a career, and increasing the likelihood of electoral annihilation, for the sake of a few hundred quid. Some would rather not fight at all. Top-flight politicians once stuck around, at least for a little while, offering wisdom extracted from their own screw-ups.

From spies to sea-level rise, Venice’s history is enthralling
Venice. By Dennis Romano. Oxford University Press; 800 pages; $41.95 and £31.99Visiting the Venice Biennale, one of the world’s largest art fairs that opened on April 20th and runs until late November, often evokes a disconcerting emotion. You come to see the works on display in the exhibitions that sprawl across the city, only to leave feeling guilty at having paid too little attention to the work of art that is Venice itself.Bedazzled by its loveliness and wondering at its sheer implausibility, outsiders have seldom managed to make objective appraisals.
