‘War crime’, ‘attempted genocide’: How some Jews around the world denounced Israel's Gaza bombardment
“war crimes" and attempting “genocide". This criticism comes even as world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, among others, have backed Israel's "right to self defence". “As a Jew, I do not accept that what Israel is doing to Gaza fits the category of self-defence.

Show solidarity with Palestinian people: Owaisi to PM Modi
Israel-Hamas conflict, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show solidarity with the Palestinian people saying the Palestine issue is not just of Muslims alone, it is a humanitarian issue and it is a matter of all those who want justice. Addressing a gathering here on Saturday night, the Hyderabad MP citing media reports said the «zaalim» Israeli government has bombarded Gaza with 6,000 bombs in the last six days and due to which over 1,500 Palestinian people including children and women were killed and several thousands are injured. He alleged that whatever is happening in Gaza is «ethnic cleansing» and wanted the Indian government and the country to condemn «the war crimes» Israel is doing.

World Cup 2023: Afghanistan can spring England upset, says coach Trott
Afghanistan may be bottom of the World Cup standings after losing their first two games, but the Asian side have the ability to upset defending champions England in their group fixture on Sunday, their English coach Jonathan Trott said. Afghanistan lost their tournament opener to Bangladesh in a low-scoring encounter before hosts India registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory. Afghanistan have lost 16 of their 17 World Cup matches but Trott said there is a «a lot of fight in the dressing room» as they look to find consistency with both the bat and ball. «I think this side's got the ability to upset any side. We've been so close in previous matches, it's just about getting over the line and making sure that we do,» Trott told reporters. «We'll have an opportunity tomorrow to put pressure on England and we've got to make sure we do that.» England thrashed Afghanistan by 150 runs at the last World Cup but Trott said the gulf in quality between the two sides has significantly reduced. «England are probably in a very similar place to where they were then and we've got a bit better as well,» he added. «That's why I'm very optimistic with tomorrow's game.» Afghanistan will hope Ben Stokes, who smashed a record-breaking 182 in his last one-day international, remains sidelined as he recovers from a hip injury which kept him out of England's first two games. «Ben seems to be getting better day on day.

Global AI guidelines 'normative', unclear about implementation, say researchers
global guidelines around the use of AI, researchers found that while most of the guidelines valued privacy, transparency, and accountability, very few valued truthfulness, intellectual property, or children's rights. Further, most of these guidelines described ethical principles and values without proposing practical methods for implementing them and without pushing for legally binding regulation, a team of researchers from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, found. To determine if a global consensus existed regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the researchers identified and analysed 200 documents related to AI ethics and governance published between 2014 and 2022 from 37 countries and six continents and written or translated into five different languages — English, Portuguese, French, German and Spanish.

Qatar's Sheikh Jassim withdraws bid to buy Manchester United
Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani has withdrawn a bid to buy Manchester United, the BBC reported on Saturday. United announced nearly a year ago that the board was exploring «strategic alternatives to enhance the club's growth», with a full sale one of the options. Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe were the front runners after several rounds of bidding earlier this year, but the process has stalled in recent months despite the anger of supporters towards current owners, the Glazer family. The Americans have owned the English giants since a leveraged takeover in 2005 for £790 million ($961 million) saddled the club with huge debts. Figures in March showed United's debts have grown to £970 million. However, the Glazers are believed to be holding out for a world record fee for a football club in excess of £6 billion. Sheikh Jassim's bid was for full control of United and promised to clear the club's debt. By contrast, Ratcliffe is reportedly willing to buy a smaller stake to break the impasse ownership of the 20-time English champions. The Red Devils fortunes on the field have also faded under the Glazer's tenure. United have not won the Premier League since former manager Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 and last won the Champions League in 2008. They currently sit 10th in the Premier League and have lost their first two Champions League group stage matches for the first time in the club's history.

Microsoft-Activision Blizzard: Ubisoft reveals strategy
Ubisoft has unveiled key details regarding the streaming of Activision Blizzard video games after Microsoft acquisition. In a recent blog post, Chris Early, Ubisoft's Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development, provided further details on the company's strategies. The French gaming publisher will have the ability to license the streaming rights to various cloud gaming platforms. It is worth noting that the blog does not explicitly state whether Microsoft can acquire a license for Xbox Cloud Streaming. Early explained that the agreement encompasses all of Activision Blizzard's existing games, as well as all games to be released in the next 15 years. Ubisoft's initial plan is to stream these games via Ubisoft+. In due course, these games are expected to become available on services such as Amazon Luna, where Ubisoft maintains a presence. Xbox maker Microsoft closed its $69 billion deal for Activision Blizzard on Friday, swelling its heft in the video-gaming market with best-selling titles including «Call of Duty» to better compete with industry leader Sony. Originally unveiled in January 2022, the biggest deal in the gaming industry cleared its final big hurdle — an approval from Britain — earlier in the day after Microsoft agreed to sell streaming rights for Activision's games to allay competition concerns. The completion is a major win for the U.S. tech firm in its push to attract more people to its Xbox consoles and Game Pass subscription service. Microsoft's gaming revenue trails that of Sony, whose PlayStation consoles outsell the Xbox.
