Scientists spot Sun-like star being devoured by a hungry black hole
NASA have discovered a Sun-like star that is being repeatedly nibbled on by a hungry black hole in a galaxy around 500 million light-years away. The star called Swift J023017.0+283603 (or Swift J0230 for short), was discovered using NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, which was launched in 2004. The scientists used a novel method for analysing data from the satellite's X-ray Telescope (XRT). On June 22, last year the XRT captured Swift J0230 for the first time.

Hayao Miyazaki's last film 'The Boy and the Heron' makes its first international debut at TIFF
Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) kicked off with great anticipation as it featured the international debut of Hayao Miyazaki's likely last film, "The Boy and the Heron." Miyazaki, known for his mastery of cel animation, brings over half a century's worth of animated masterpieces into this coming-of-age story, celebrating the traditional hand-drawn style that is Studio Ghibli's signature. «The Boy and the Heron» is a visual masterpiece, created by layering hand-painted images on celluloid against exquisite painted backdrops, showcasing Miyazaki's dedication to his craft. This film may well be his final contribution to Studio Ghibli, and it is a reflection on memory, nostalgia, and the art of animation. For UK audiences, the film will be available on October 8 and 15 as part of the BFI London Film Festival, leading up to its cinematic release on December 8. Miyazaki, who turned 82 on January 5, 2023, has previously declared retirement seven times in his illustrious career, only to return with new creations each time.

Fintech to bring down operation cost as well as acquisition cost: Srinivas Jain, SBI MF
Srinivas Jain, Executive Director, SBI Mutual Funds, spoke to ET Now on the sidelines of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF). Jain said: “Fintech will be big. There is this beautiful saying in English that we always overestimate the short term and underestimate the long term. So whatever I am going to say, what it is going to be in five years will surely be 5x of that. It is very difficult to articulate what it is going to be in five years. But for sure, we are still underpenetrated when it comes to fintech technologies reaching the masses.”How fintech helps banks and mutual fundsThe cost of acquisition of customers will only keep going down. Digital gives the capability to bring the cost down over a period of time. In fact, the acquisition costs have already come down thanks to all the DPI stacks that are there, whether it is Aadhaar, UPI, and things like that. So operationally cost will come down, acquisition cost also will come down.
