India can raise all issues with Canada at P20 Summit: Om Birla
India can raise all issues with the Canadian speaker of the senate during the upcoming three-day G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) which will be held here from October 12, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Friday. The presiding officers of 25 countries and 10 deputy speakers from the G20 member nations and invitee countries are expected to attend the P20 Summit at the India International Convention and Expo Centre — Yashobhoomi — at Dwarka from October 13 to 14. PM Modi will inaugurate the G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit on October 13. Canada has confirmed its participation in the summit and it will be represented by speaker of the Senate Raymonde Gagne. Canada attending the summit assumes importance as relations with India have been under strain after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has linked Indian agents to the killing of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.

Jack Mintz: Alberta taking half of CPP assets is a reasonable place to start
I wasn’t going to write again on the Alberta Pension Plan and what has become the controversial LifeWorks report saying Alberta should get half the Canada Pension Plan’s assets if it sets up its own APP. It’s so obvious that since 1966 Alberta has carried the load for the rest of the CPP provinces (i.e., not Quebec, which has its own plan) that I didn’t think I’d have to. Besides, even LifeWorks acknowledges the numbers need refining. Its model essentially tracks the CPP’s actuarial report, but a more careful treatment of Alberta-only actuarial assumptions and interprovincial migration requires access to confidential CPP data. No one has done that exercise yet.
