Why Saurabh Mukherjea is still gung-ho on specialty chemicals, adding to Little Champs portfolio
Saurabh Mukherjea, Founder, Marcellus Investment Managers, says «China's economic boom over the last 20 years supported commodity prices. China's economic unwinding, perhaps its economic collapse over the next 10 years, will have a deflationary impact. As and when that becomes apparent to bond markets and to central banks, the narrative that we are close to the top of the interest rate cycle will solidify. And therefore, the jitteriness that we see around interest rates, will abate over the next 12 months.» Mukherjea further says: «We are making several additions to Little Champs. We are quite enjoying the jitteriness in the market. So the one I can talk about is RHI Magnesita. We have added RHI Magnesita to Little Champs portfolio. This is actually very similar to what we did with GMM Pfaudler four years ago.»There seems to be a bit of a change in the macro narrative, whether it is local or global. Locally, we can blame it on tomato prices and onion prices. Globally, we could blame it on what is happening to the dollar index and how China is moving? The macro narrative is probably the best we have ever had.

UK issues record number of work visas to fill staff shortages
UK in the year to June as employers scrambled to recruit from overseas amid ongoing labor shortages, according to official figures. The Home Office data showed how reliant the UK remains on foreign workers 2 1/2 years after the post-Brexit immigration regime came into force. The number of work visas issued was 45% more than a year earlier. Over a third of the total, 121,290, were “health and care” visas – a 157% increase in the previous year – as the UK struggled to meet the staffing needs of the National Health Service and care providers. Indian and Nigerian nationals accounted for the largest share. With employers unable to fill over a million jobs, the government has responded by expanding the shortage occupation list, its visa rule exemption system, to make it easier to bring workers into the country. However, soaring migration numbers have become a political headache for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak given the promises the Conservative government made to control Britain’s borders after the 2016 referendum that put Britain on a path out of the European Union.

China-based 'Flax Typhoon' hackers targeting Taiwan govt: Microsoft
Flax Typhoon" has targeted dozens of Taiwanese government agencies with the likely aim of spying on them, Microsoft has revealed.Taiwan has long accused China — which claims the self-ruled island as its territory — of espionage through cyberattacks on its government networks. Microsoft said Thursday that Flax Typhoon, «a nation-state actor based out of China», has since mid-2021 mainly «targeted government agencies and education, critical manufacturing, and information technology organizations in Taiwan». The activities observed suggest «the threat actor intends to perform espionage and maintain access to organizations across a broad range of industries for as long as possible,» the US tech giant said in a blog post. «However, Microsoft has not observed Flax Typhoon act on final objectives in this campaign.» China has long vowed to take Taiwan — by force if necessary — and has stepped up military and political pressure on the island. In addition to government agencies, Microsoft said Flax Typhoon has also targeted «critical manufacturing and information technology organizations in Taiwan». The firm said outside of Taiwan, there were some Flax Typhoon «victims» in Southeast Asia, North America and Africa. Last month, Microsoft said China-based hackers seeking intelligence had breached the email accounts of a number of US government agencies. That hacking group — which Microsoft called Storm-0558 — primarily focuses on «espionage, data theft, and credential access». The company also warned this year that state-sponsored Chinese hackers had infiltrated critical US infrastructure networks, saying this was likely aimed at hampering the United States during a conflict. Microsoft made particular mention of Guam, a US Pacific
