US will continue to monitor situation in Bangladesh, says White House
White House said, emphasising that President Joe Biden is «consistent in speaking loud and clear» on human rights issues. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was responding to questions regarding calls from Hindu-American groups and Indian-American lawmakers seeking the US government's intervention in protecting the lives and properties of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. «We are certainly going to continue monitoring the situation. I don't have anything else to add beyond that. But, when it comes to any type of human rights issues, the president (Joe Biden) has been very consistent in speaking loud and clear in public and also privately and he'll continue to do that,» Jean-Pierre told reporters at her daily news conference on Monday. Over the past few days, hundreds of Hindu-Americans in various US cities have been holding peaceful protest rallies against the alleged human rights violations of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.

Microsoft blames Delta for its struggle to recover from global cyber outage
Microsoft blamed Delta Air Lines on Tuesday for its dayslong struggle to recover from a global cyber outage that led it to cancel more than 6,000 flights. The flight disruptions stranded hundreds of thousands of travelers and are estimated to cost the Atlanta-based airline $500 million. Last week, Delta's CEO Ed Bastian told CNBC that while the airline heavily relies on Microsoft and CrowdStrike, both tech companies had failed to deliver an «exceptional service.» In the interview, he also said that Microsoft had the «most fragile platform.»

Americans have more depth than anyone at the pool, but gold medals harder and harder to come by
Olympic medal podium is no longer a given for U.S. swimmers. Nine days of thrilling competition at La Defense Arena wrapped up Sunday night with the Americans barely pulling out the lead in the gold medal standings thanks to a victory in the final race. The U.S. finished with just eight golds, its fewest since the 1988 Seoul Games and one ahead of its biggest rival, Australia.

The fight of Trump’s political life
Those who think about politics and history as a profession can’t resist comparing presidential years. “This is 1968 all over again." “We’re back to the dynamics of ’72." We do this because we know political history and love it, and because there are always parallels and lessons to be learned. But it should be said as a reminder: This year isn’t like any previous time.
