Israel facing security ‘earthquake’ and ‘battle for national survival,’ expert says
Israel is calling the attack by Hamas this weekend an “earthquake” for the country and people’s sense of security, and says the conflict has become a “battle for national survival.”Chuck Freilich made the comments in an interview with The West Block‘s Mercedes Stephenson on Sunday, a day after Hamas militants launched a slew of rockets into Israel’s south, as well as attacks by land and sea, in what is being seen as an unprecedented attack.More than 600 in Israel have been killed, according to government numbers, with claims by Hamas of capturing military soldiers and reports of residents also being abducted.“This is one of the worst developments in Israel’s history. It’s the first time since the War of Independence in 1948 that Israeli territory was occupied even briefly,” said Freilich, a professor of political science at Columbia University and previously a deputy national security adviser in Israel.“This is an earthquake for Israel, militarily, psychologically, the sense of people’s security, and it’s, I believe, a total different change in the situation, which is going to require responses by Israel on a completely different level.

BOJ could raise 1% yield cap as next move, says academic Ito
interest rates as its next policy move if the 10-year bond yield threatens to breach that level, Columbia University academic Takatoshi Ito told Reuters in an interview. Under its yield curve control (YCC) policy, the BOJ guides short-term interest rates at -0.1% and the 10-year bond yield around 0%. It also has an allowance band of 50 basis point set either side of the yield target, as well as a hard cap of 1.0% adopted in July. Rising U.S.

One More Time…: Blink-182 to release new album soon. See when, complete tracklist and more
Blink-182 announced that their upcoming album, "One More Time...," is set to release on October 20 through Columbia Records. The band, consisting of Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge, shared the news in a video trailer on Monday. This new album will be the first one featuring Tom DeLonge since his return to the band in 2022. It's been almost a decade since the original members collaborated on an album together. The band previewed the album with a brief video trailer, which included snippets from an upcoming interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music and some archival footage. The teaser also revealed that three new songs, including the title track «One More Time,» will be released on September 21, accompanied by an official music video. Blink-182 also disclosed the 17-song tracklist and confirmed that Travis Barker had taken on the role of producer for the entire project. The recording for «One More Time...» took place during Blink-182's reunion tour in 2022 and 2023, which saw them performing in arenas, amphitheaters, and stadiums worldwide. Their tour kicked off in Latin America earlier this year, and they even headlined Coachella for the second weekend, stepping in for Frank Ocean. Blink-182, along with opening act Rise Against, will wrap up their tour with a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand, concluding in February 2024.

Weirdly Shaped Office Chairs Are Popular on TikTok. Are They Actually Good for You?
SIMPLY SITTING down seems like it should require no expertise or deep consideration. But just as working has become synonymous with being chained to a desk (or kitchen table), sitting has been deemed “unhealthy." While some designers, disrupting convention, are creating standing and treadmill desks that dispense with sitting altogether, there’s a middle ground: so-called “active chairs," that employ a range of strategies to make the act of sitting not so sedentary.
