Delhi police constable was allegedly killed in a road rage incident on Saturday night when he was run over by a car in Delhi's Nagaloi area. According to the Delhi Police, the incident occurred on Saturday night when the constable asked the driver to move the car. Following this, the constable was hit by the car and reportedly dragged for about 10 meters before colliding with another car. The driver of the car has fled from the spot after the incident, and the car has been recovered by the police.

Toxic threat: East Delhi's air loaded with excessive heavy metals, reports study
heavy metals such as chromium, copper, zinc, molybdenum, and lead in PM2.5 particles in East Delhi and other regions, as reported by The Times of India. The research investigated heavy metal exposure in six districts: East Delhi, Jaisalmer, Ludhiana, Visakhapatnam, Panchkula, and Patiala. The study aimed to measure the Heavy Metal Exposure Index (HEI) and found that East Delhi recorded the highest HEI before the COVID-19 lockdown. After the lockdown, Ludhiana had the highest HEI, followed by East Delhi. Researchers collected samples from various areas in East Delhi, including Mayur Vihar, Dilshad Garden, and Laxmi Nagar, during 2019 and 2020. The study identified cadmium, arsenic, chromium, copper, zinc, molybdenum, and lead in most PM2.5 samples across all six districts. The highest HEI value was found in Ludhiana (21.78), followed by East Delhi (21.45) and Panchkula (10.74). The median HEI value stood at 8. The study noted a decrease in HEI in East Delhi and Jaisalmer during the lockdown period.

DDA housing scheme: Over 1200 LIG flats sold out
EWS flats were sold out in DDA's Sasta Ghar and Madhyam Vargiya Housing schemes, an official statement said on Saturday. In Ramgarh, out of 183 LIG flats in the scheme, 153 flats were sold, it said. While 708 LIG flats were sold in Rohini and around 250 flats were booked in Narela. Among the EWS segment, around 300 flats were sold out in Narela and all 139 flats offered in Loknayakpuram were also booked, it said. Since the first day of the booking on September 10, the scheme has received an impressive response with all HIG flats offered at Jasola being sold out on Day 1, the statement said.

The attack occurred around 7:30 PM, when three men arrived on a motorcycle and stormed into the showroom, brandishing pistols. Without warning, they opened fire both inside and outside the building, sending shockwaves through the area.

Medical bills in India are rapidly becoming bigger, reveals new index
Healthcare costs in India are increasing at an annual rate of 14 per cent, the ACKO India Health Insurance Index 2024 shows. The report reveals how that double-digit inflation is causing the rise in healthcare expenses. The index revealed that 23 per cent of hospital costs are funded through borrowings, adding financial strain on families. With 62 percent of healthcare expenses paid out of pocket, the report emphasised the need for improved health coverage to protect individuals from unexpected health crises. The report identified Delhi as having the highest health insurance claims for kidney disease in India, followed by Kochi. «Delhi is the capital for kidney disease, followed by Kochi. Delhi NCR had the highest share of claims related to kidney health. Kochi, Secunderabad, Bengaluru & Jaipur's share of claims was above the National average,» the index report stated. It noted that the average age of patients with kidney issues is 47, and the largest bill filed for kidney-related problems reached Rs 24,73,894.

Of these, approximately 4,200 shows were in Telugu, followed by 3,200 in Hindi. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film saw an overall occupancy rate of 79.56% in Telugu, with over 1,726 shows in Hyderabad alone. In Hindi, the overall occupancy was 18.37%, with 806 shows in Delhi/NCR and 517 shows in Mumbai. According to Sacnilk, Devara earned Rs 68.6 crore from its Telugu shows, Rs 7 crore from Hindi, Rs 80 lakh from Tamil, and Rs 30 lakh each from Kannada and Malayalam.

Man and his four disabled daughters found dead after consuming poison in Vasant Kunj
Vasant Kunj's Rangpuri Village as five members of a family were found dead in their flat. The family consisted of a man and his four daughters. On Friday at 10:18 AM, the Delhi Police received information from neighbors regarding a foul smell and flies around the house. Officers broke the lock to enter the flat, where they discovered the bodies of the family members. Neighbor Ratan said, «The caretaker called and asked about them. He informed me about a foul smell and flies in and around the house. We had not seen them for 2-3 days. We saw the father 3-4 days ago. The children never used to get out of the house. We called the landlord and the police.» The police found that all five family members had consumed a poisonous substance. Ratan added, «The police came and opened the house. The 5 bodies were lying. The mother died a few months ago, there were 4 daughters aged from 15-25 years. All four of them were physically challenged, we saw them out of the house very rarely.»

Delhi High Court on Thursday pulled up Delhi University for “lack of will” to act against DUSU election contestants indulging in vandalism and defacement of public properties. The court put on hold the counting of votes for the elections that are being held on Friday, reported TOI. “This court directs that election process may proceed yet no counting of votes shall take place either on DU (Students’ Union) elections or on college elections till this court is satisfied that posters, hoardings, graffiti and spray paints are removed and public property is restored,” a bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela directed after a lengthy hearing. The HC said that it would allow the DUSU elections to go ahead but halted the counting the court is satisfied that the defacement of property has been removed, including the material such as posters, hoardings and graffiti.
