Uttarakhand: PM Modi address an election rally in Rudrapur- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kick off the BJP's Lok Sabha election campaign in Uttarakhand with a rally in Rudrapur, situated within the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency. According to state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt, the rally is expected to draw a crowd of over one lakh people.

The government wants all software to instead be synchronised with indigenous atomic clocks, both for uniformity in time and as a defence mechanism, especially in times of war.

Jaipur, Former Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi on Monday skipped the ED summons in a money laundering probe linked to alleged irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission. Joshi, the former public health engineering (PHE) department minister, was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its office in Jaipur. The Congress leader was served a notice on Saturday directing him to appear at the ED office at 10.30 am on Monday. However, Joshi did not appear before the ED citing insufficient time to gather documents. Joshi said he has sought a time period of 15 days to appear before the ED with all the required documents.

Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea of Adani Power Rajasthan Ltd seeking over Rs 1,300 crore as late payment surcharge from the Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, a Rajasthan government-owned power distribution firm. Imposing Rs 50,000 as cost on Adani Power Rajasthan Ltd (APRL), a bench comprising Justices Aniruddha Bose and PV Sanjay Kumar ruled that filing of a miscellaneous application was not the proper legal recourse to late payment surcharge (LPS) by the Adani firm. «Relief of this nature (claiming LPS) cannot be asked in a miscellaneous application which was described in the course of the hearing as an application for clarification,» the bench said. The cost of Rs 50,000 imposed on APRL will be deposited with the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee, Justice Bose said while reading out the operative portion of the judgement.

Bhajanlal Sharma government in Rajasthan on Thursday announced a 4% hike in dearness allowance (DA) of state government employees and pensioners ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The decision to hike the dearness allowance by 4% was taken in the state cabinet meeting held in Jaipur on Thursday evening. Speaking with the media after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said in line with the central government employees, his government has increased the dearness allowance by 4 %.
