PIA flight carrying Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and a high-level delegation back from their visit to Saudi Arabia was diverted to Lahore airport, causing inconvenience to hundreds of other passengers, according to a media report on Wednesday. Interestingly, the incident came close on the heels of Prime Minister Sharif recently declaring a ban on the red carpet at events in his favour, which earned accolades for signalling a shift towards eradicating the VIP culture and encouraging a culture of humility within the realm of public service. Quoting a PIA spokesperson, the Dawn newspaper reported that the Pakistan International Airlines flight from Jeddah to Islamabad, carrying Sharif and his daughter Maryam back from their visit to Saudi Arabia, was diverted to Lahore airport on Monday.

Imad Wasim viral video: Pakistan cricketer spotted smoking in dressing room during PSL final
Imad Wasim found himself embroiled in controversy following his stellar performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final against Multan Sultans at Karachi's National Bank Stadium. Despite his instrumental role in Islamabad United's triumphant third PSL title win, securing a five-wicket haul to restrict Multan Sultans to 159/9 and contributing an unbeaten 19 runs during the successful run chase, Imad Wasim attracted attention for the wrong reasons. Shortly after his remarkable display on the field, videos circulated widely on social media capturing Imad Wasim smoking in the team's dressing room during the match's 18th over. This incident stirred up controversy, overshadowing his exceptional on-field performance. Despite the smoking incident, Wasim was recognized as the Player of the Match for his remarkable all-round contributions, aiding Islamabad United's victory in the PSL final, marking their first final victory since 2018. On the flip side, Multan Sultans, appearing in their fourth consecutive final, ended as runners-up for the third consecutive season. Despite clinching the championship title in the 2021 edition, they finished as runners-up in the subsequent two editions, with Lahore Qalandars securing back-to-back titles.

Pakistan: Imran Khan's supporters block highways to protest results
Pakistan's imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan and members of other political parties blocked key highways and started a daylong strike in the volatile southwest Monday to protest alleged rigging of last week's elections. Candidates backed by Khan won more seats than the political parties who ousted him from power nearly two years ago, according to the final tally published Sunday. However, no party won a majority, so the parties will have to hold talks on forming a coalition government. While election winners were celebrating victory, PTI and other parties refused to accept their defeat in dozens of constituencies. Dozens of Khan's supporters were briefly detained in the eastern city of Lahore over the weekend while protesting alleged vote-rigging.
