markets Extreme Compilation country Cocoa, coffee reach new highs on fear of aging trees
Cocoa and coffee futures reached new highs on mounting concerns of extreme weather, while aging trees in Africa cocoa crops and Vietnam coffee areas added to concerns. “Speculators are drawing parallels between cocoa and coffee, which is a bit surprising,” Rabobank analyst Carlos Mera said, adding that trees getting older in Vietnam is one of the reasons coffee production in the country is not expanding. New York cocoa futures rose to the highest in data going back to the 1960s, extending a rally driven by declining production in top-growers Ivory Coast and Ghana. Gains for most-active contract accelerated after prices broke the $10,000 mark, a level that hasn’t been seen since almost two weeks ago.

India is a cricket-crazy country and perhaps it's no surprise that bookings are coming in thick and fast for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the US and West Indies this June. But it's not just cricket. Indian sports fans are travelling the world to watch their favourite sporting events across categories like never before, buoyed by rising disposable incomes, travel companies said. Rajeev Kale, president and country head for holidays, MICE and Visa at Thomas Cook (India), said that besides the demand for the T20 World Cup from both leisure and corporate customers, the company is seeing high interest for Wimbledon in London, as well as Formula One races in Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Bahrain throughout the year. The company's data indicates an uptick of 25-30% in bookings for key global sporting events this year, he said. «Besides corporate incentives, head honchos from India Inc and HNI-UHNI leisure travellers, our data reveals strong demand emerging from younger audiences as well who are keen to tick off their bucket lists,» Kale said.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) globally have observed a day of protest and fasting in solidarity with party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged money laundering case. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, hours after the high court refused to grant him protection from coercive action by the federal anti-money laundering agency. He is currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail. AAP volunteers in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia gathered in front of Indian embassies and popular locations on Monday to protest Kejriwal's arrest and call for his immediate release, a media release said. «Arvind Kejriwal is a symbol of hope for millions of Indians who are fighting for a more just and equitable society,» said AAP member Jeswanth Reddy from Los Angeles. «His arrest is an attack on democracy and the right to dissent. markets UPS Provident ETF Platform economy Trade The gold market hunts for answers behind bullion’s sudden surge
Gold’s scorching run to an all-time high may seem easy to explain from a distance, given the fractious geopolitical climate and murky outlook for the global economy. The precious metal is famously seen as a “safe haven,” and the general view is that bullion prices should rise when interest rates fall — which many investors expect will happen later this year. And yet. Take a closer look, and it’s far from clear: why is gold suddenly rising right now?

COST Provident Career students Universities Schools Colleges Some American colleges will soon charge $100,000 a year. How did this happen?
One letter to a newly admitted Vanderbilt University engineering student showed an all-in price — room, board, personal expenses, a high-octane laptop — of $98,426. A student making three trips home to Los Angeles or London from the Nashville, Tennessee, campus during the year could hit six figures. This eye-popping sum is an anomaly. Only a tiny fraction of college-going students will pay anything close to this anytime soon, and about 35% of Vanderbilt students — those who get neither need-based nor merit aid — pay the full list price.

Ball Opinion Food Swimming gatherings rights So, this April, what is your party quotient?
Lloyds Bank in London. The bleakness in the poem, no doubt, stems much from the state of the western world in those inter-war years. But I suspect, with no evidence in hand, that he was especially inspired to write that opening line after attending too many dinner parties and luncheons in London's banking and financial circles that spring. I say this because I can confirm after a week packed with dinners and lunches — one pretty much liquid — that it is indeed the cruellest month on the calendar. But one upshot of giving networking a shot has been that I have gained knowledge about the kind of people a fashionable host invites to such HNI — High Networking Individuals — gatherings. Some of the same guests I saw across the dozen gatherings over the last six days clearly ranked high in PQ — Party Quotient. Anyone below 5 on the PQI shouldn't really be there. Locked & Loaded Being wealthy, especially wealthier than the other gathered wealthies, always gives a premium entry. Subtle (sic) expositions on the short holiday in Mallorca — 'We watched the sea food swimming right next to us' — adds to one's net worth. (PQI 6)
