MP CM Mohan Yadav's visit to UK, Germany: Congress calls it 'open drama for investment'
Congress on Saturday dubbed Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's tour of United Kingdom and Germany as «open drama in the name of investment» and jibed that he wanted to be an «international tourist» like Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party hit back by calling the Congress «anti-development» and said it was not «tourism but drawing investment for the betterment of the state». Yadav will be visiting the two European nations from November 23 to December 1. In a statement, MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari said, «An open drama going on in the name of investment in Madhya Pradesh. Crores of rupees are being spent in the name of government publicity. When the CM and officials got bored of roaming in various states, they are now exploring the possibilities of government tourism abroad.»

King's College London's Shyam Balaji stated that unfortunately this year, the viewing conditions will be affected by a nearly full moon. The chances of seeing more meteors can be increased by watching in the early morning when the moon is lower in the sky.

Goldman Sachs hired a London BofA MD for Hong Kong
Financial services hiring is perking up everywhere, but in Hong Kong it's looking particularly sprightly. Bloomberg reported yesterday that professionals licensed with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) increased at the fastest rate ever in the past four months. One of those hires was at Goldman Sachs, which has just relocated a London-based MD from a rival bank who previously spent the bulk of his career in Hong Kong.

Having a rank above managing director, which you promote people into biannually, has its disadvantages. Any managing director (MD) doesn't get promoted is not happy, particularly if they had reason to believe that they deserved the rise.

ESG jobs in finance: bracing for the Trump effect, or not
Not so long ago, environmental, social and governance (ESG) jobs were all the rage in banking and finance. In the years after the pandemic, they carried a 20% pay premium and there was talk of a skills gap: in 2020, CFA Institute found that 18% of portfolio manager jobs wanted ESG skills, but that only 1.5% of portfolio managers had them. Buffing a CV with ESG seemed like a no-brainer.

Qatar picks QIA's Americas boss to run $510 billion fund
Qatar named Mohammed Al Sowaidi as the chief executive officer of its $510 billion sovereign wealth fund, which is set to acquire even more financial firepower in coming years. Al Suwaidi, who joined the fund in 2010, was most recently chief investment officer for QIA in the Americas region and helped establish a US office. He replaces Mansoor Al Mahmoud, who's led the entity since 2018 — longer than a typical four-year term. The QIA is the world's eighth-largest sovereign fund with around $510 billion in assets under management, according to consultancy Global SWF. It was founded in 2005 to handle the country's revenue from liquefied natural gas, of which Qatar is one of the biggest exporters.

Educators are trying out VR and XR prototypes in their classrooms in order to achieve this, Meta said. Along with giving early access to a range of apps and features to the university partners, the beta test will be an opportunity for the students to experience metaverse technologies up close which could otherwise be inaccessible to them.

Isolated monarch? Sick, cancer-struck King Charles revealed as powerless, unable to control Prince William and Prince Andrew
Prince Andrew, and son, Prince William, King Charles appeared to be a lonely king on Sunday as he attended a crucial veterans' memorial event in London without his wife, Queen Camilla, who is battling a chest infection, as quoted in a report by the Daily Beast. In a shocking blow to the authority of the cancer-stricken king, William laid out plans for a radical shift in tone during his reign, subtly criticizing Charles in a move that would have been unimaginable prior to the king's cancer diagnosis. The contrast between William's and his father's fortunes was made all the clearer by the triumphant presence of Kate Middleton. Charles was already smarting from his brother, Andrew, comprehensively winning the so-called Siege of Royal Lodge this weekend.
