MUMBAI : Mumbai: Indian residents' appetite for gold bonds knows no bounds, despite the metal hitting record high prices this fiscal year, and stock markets trading at life highs. In the latest issuance last month, residents subscribed to a record 12.78 tonnes of bonds worth ₹8,008.38 crore, or $966 million, the highest-ever amount since the first issuance eight years and two months ago, RBI data shows . The issue price was at a record high of ₹6,263 per gram.

NARCL) has offered lenders base bids for the bad loan accounts of Hitodi Infra, Sion Panvel Tollways and Morarjee Textile with total consolidated debt of more than ₹4,000 crore. Based on binding bids from the government-backed bad bank, lenders have initiated a Swiss challenge auction for Hitodi Infra. The lenders, including Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of India, IDBI Bank and State Bank of India, have appointed BoB Capital as the process advisor. NARCL has offered ₹465 crore for the outstanding loans of ₹2,101 crore. The lenders have asked bidders to either bid in all cash or on a cash-and-security receipt basis. NARCL buys debt under a 15:85 structure where 15% is paid in cash and 85% in security receipts. The minimum markup will be 5% of the anchor bid. The Swiss auction will be held on March 26.

money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has frozen various security holdings valued at over Rs 580 crore belonging to a Dubai-based «hawala operator.» The ED conducted fresh raids on February 28 at multiple locations across Kolkata, Gurugram, Delhi, Indore, Mumbai, Bhopal, and Raipur, resulting in the seizure of cash and valuables worth Rs 3.64 crore. As per reports, the ED's investigation into the Mahadev online book gaming and betting app has revealed the involvement of high-ranking politicians and bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh, the home state of the app's main promoters. The agency identified Hari Shankar Tibrewal, a Kolkata native currently residing in Dubai, as a «hawala operator and major player» in the case. Tibrewal allegedly partnered with the Mahadev app promoters and operated an illegal betting app called «skyexchange.»
