Mumbai: The pattern of domestic airlines receiving bomb threats to their flights continued for the fourth day as two international flights, one each of Vistara and IndiGo, were targeted in the similar manner on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, seven flights of IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa received similar bomb threats. Prior to that, nearly a dozen flights operated by Indian carriers received similar threats on Monday and Tuesday. On Thursday a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight with 147 persons on board was immediately taken to security checks on its arrival from Frankfurt following the Boeing 787 aircraft receiving a bomb threat, according to the airline.

Quick commerce firm Zepto has held discussions to raise another $100-150 million from a group of domestic family offices and high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) at a pre-investment valuation of $4.6 billion, sources aware of the matter said. The Mumbai-based startup has raised $340 million at the same valuation in August after which it was valued at $5 billion. Motilal Oswal Group’s private wealth arm is running the mandate for the fundraise and Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company has already committed about $40 million in this round, per sources. ET first reported on August 29 saying Motilal Oswal Financial Service chairman Raamdeo Agrawal has backed Zepto in his personal capacity. Agarwal has also invested in Swiggy’s pre-IPO placement which has gathered lot of interest among high-net worth individuals and family offices.

At least 19 Indian flights received hoax bomb threats in the past three days, leading to long delays and diversions. On Tuesday, Singapore's air force sent two fighter jets to escort an Air India Express plane away from populated areas after the airline received an email that there was a bomb on the aircraft.

Vi, as part of a revival plan, has raised equity funding of ₹24,000 crore including ₹18,000 crore from a follow-on public offer. The telecom operator has said that the bulk of the funds will be used to beef up 4G coverage and roll out 5G as it strives to become more competitive against rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel and stop the decline in the number of subscribers.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Wednesday said law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing all cases of bomb threats against airlines and the government is closely monitoring the situation.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday announced a 5-10 per cent water cut across Mumbai from October 17 to October 18 citing a glitch in a valve on a pipeline in Thane district. A BMC release said that a 900-mm valve of the Vaitarna pipeline at Tarali in the neighbouring district has malfunctioned, necessitating the partial shutdown of the water supply system. It is expected to be fixed in about 48 hours, said the civic body. «Consequently, there has been a 5 per cent to 10 per cent reduction in the supply to the Bhandup Water Treatment Plant, which supplies water to Greater Mumbai,» the release said, justifying the water cut in the city from Thursday to Friday. Water to Mumbai city and suburbs is primarily sourced from the Vaitarna dam.

The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are monitoring the situation and have advised the pilot to divert the flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi with abundant precaution. The Captain is following all required emergency procedures for a safe landing in Delhi and the estimated time of arrival is approximately 14:00 hrs: Akasa Air Spokesperson,» an airlines spokesperson said. Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight also received a bomb threat on Wednesday, making it the second flight in two days to undergo a security concern. The Mumbai-Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad where the passengers were disembarked after the flight was isolated, an Indigo spokesperson informed.
