Mumbai: The pattern of domestic airlines receiving bomb threats to their flights continued for the fourth day as two international flights, one each of Vistara and IndiGo, were targeted in the similar manner on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, seven flights of IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa received similar bomb threats. Prior to that, nearly a dozen flights operated by Indian carriers received similar threats on Monday and Tuesday. On Thursday a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight with 147 persons on board was immediately taken to security checks on its arrival from Frankfurt following the Boeing 787 aircraft receiving a bomb threat, according to the airline.

Vistara flight bound for Mumbai made an emergency landing on Wednesday due to a bomb threat. The airplane, which had 147 people on board, was traveling from Frankfurt, Germany. PTI sources reported that the Boeing 787 landed safely at 7:45 am and was immediately directed to an isolation bay for security checks. The aircraft had 134 passengers and 13 crew members. It had departed from Frankfurt on Tuesday at 8:20 pm, local time.

Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich on October 13, sparking arson and violence in the Uttar Pradesh district, died due to «shock and excessive bleeding.» This was stated by Bahraich Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sanjay Kumar after the postmortem examination revealed that as many as «25 to 30 pellets» were found on the deceased's body, which also had injury marks. «The report revealed that there were serious injury marks around the left eye and on the toenails,» Dr Kumar said. He said the postmortem was done by a panel of three doctors late on Sunday night and its videography was also done. Vodafone Idea (Vi), boosted by equity funding, is set to start rolling out next generation (5G) commercial services by March 2025 across 17 circles, starting with Delhi and Mumbai, and is aiming to reach at least 90% of India's population with 4G coverage by June next year, said its chief technology officer Jagbir Singh. «We are going a little slow (wih 5G), but we will be doing 5G in Delhi and Mumbai first, and of course, all metros and major cities across 17 states (circles),» he told ET. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday announced a 5-10 per cent water cut across Mumbai from October 17 to October 18 citing a glitch in a valve on a pipeline in Thane district. A BMC release said that a 900-mm valve of the Vaitarna pipeline at Tarali in the neighbouring district has malfunctioned, necessitating the partial shutdown of the water supply system. It is expected to be fixed in about 48 hours, said the civic body. «Consequently, there has been a 5 per cent to 10 per cent reduction in the supply to the Bhandup Water Treatment Plant, which supplies water to Greater Mumbai,» the release said, justifying the water cut in the city from Thursday to Friday. Water to Mumbai city and suburbs is primarily sourced from the Vaitarna dam.

Akasa Air flight bound for Bengaluru from Delhi received a bomb threat on Wednesday in a series of such threats received by multiple airlines in the last two days. The flight, carrying 174 passengers including seven crew members, is being monitored by the budget-carrier's Emergency Response team and is expected to be diverted to the IGI Airport in Delhi. «Akasa Air flight QP 1335, flying from Delhi to Bengaluru on October 16, 2024, and carrying 174 passengers, 3 infants and 7 crew members on board, received a security alert. The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are monitoring the situation and have advised the pilot to divert the flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi with abundant precaution. The Captain is following all required emergency procedures for a safe landing in Delhi and the estimated time of arrival is approximately 14:00 hrs: Akasa Air Spokesperson,» an airlines spokesperson said. Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight also received a bomb threat on Wednesday, making it the second flight in two days to undergo a security concern. The Mumbai-Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad where the passengers were disembarked after the flight was isolated, an Indigo spokesperson informed.
