E-sports to be the next big bet
NEW DELHI : Online sporting (e-sports) events are emerging as a big revenue opportunity with growing enthusiasm for the nascent gaming sector in India, industry executives said. The country, with 42.5 crore gamers, second only to China, saw a string of e-sports events this year with substantial prize money on offer. On 27 August, e-sports firm Nodwin Gaming, a subsidiary of the only publicly-listed gaming company Nazara Technologies, concluded the second edition of its Battlegrounds India Master Series (BGMS).

NEW DELHI : The National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) has debarred two partners of a Mumbai-based firm for alleged professional misconduct in auditing Devan Housing Finance Corp. Ltd’s FY18 accounts, as part of the watchdog’s efforts to improve audit quality. The regulator debarred a partner at Chaturvedi & Shah LLP for 10 years, and another for five years.

SpiceJet flight SG-15 made an emergency landing here around 9.30 pm on Tuesday and a passenger was given medical assistance. "The Boeing 737 aircraft was going from Ahmedabad to Dubai when a 27-year old passenger, Dharwal Darmesh, suffered a suspected heart attack and needed medical attention," a spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said here.

200 young paddlers stranded in Vijayawada due to Cyclone Michaung
Vijayawada brought joy and pain in equal measure for young Bengal paddler Sreosree Chakraborty, who is now stuck along with 300 others because of Cyclone Michaung, which has wreaked havoc on India's east coast. Cyclone Michaung made landfall in Bapatla, a coastal district of Andhra Pradesh, bringing heavy rainfall in Vijayawada, about 80km away, where the National Ranking TT tournament concluded on Monday. A Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) official told PTI on Tuesday that there are about 200 players in the age group of U-11 to U-19 stuck along with their family members.

Plans afoot to rope in experts from IITs for tunnel audit team
New Delhi: India is looking to create a tunnel safety system as part of a broader effort to fortify the extensive tunnel network across highways, railways and metro systems in the country, people familiar with the development told ET. This will include forming an audit team with experts from various IITs and setting up a world-class tunnelling centre under IIT Delhi to research and propose enhanced safety measures for tunnels that are benchmarked to international levels, the people said. They added that the move is aimed at preventing recurrence of mishaps like the recent Silkyara tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand in future.

Industry stakeholders such as Mumbai-based unicorn Games24x7, as well as publicly-listed gaming firm Nazara Technologies, are among those that believe that consolidation across the industry is inevitable—but finding offers with the right valuation poses a challenge. NEW DELHI : Lessors of Go First have told the Delhi High Court that they have not received any records related to aircraft maintenance from the insolvent airline’s resolution professional since May, or been allowed to physically inspect its assets. Go First’s RP is in contempt of court for not complying with its order from two months earlier, the lessors argued before a single-judge bench on Tuesday.
