3 private labs get nod to test cough syrups
NEW DELHI : The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Rajeev Raghuvanshi has granted permission to three National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)- accredited private labs to conduct tests on cough syrups for exports. The private labs are: Bee Pharma Labs (Mumbai), Oasis Test House (Ahmedabad) and Shriram Institute for Industrial Research (Delhi). Prior to this, only government labs were authorised to test cough syrups for export.

NEW DELHI : India’s merchandise trade gap swelled to the highest in 10 months in August as exports continued to slow due to weak demand in the West and China, even as sustained geo-political tensions keep inflation and interest rates elevated. Commerce ministry data showed on Friday that exports slipped nearly 7% to $34.48 billion in August from $37.02 billion a year earlier. Paddy lifts kharif acreage above 2022 level; pulses, oilseeds fall
NEW DELHI : Kharif sowing exceeded the levels of last year led by a surge in paddy while pulses and oilseeds fell, at a time the erratic south-west monsoon has cast a shadow over this year’s sowing and harvest. According to data released by the agriculture ministry on Friday, total kharif planting until 15 September was up 3.6% from the previous year to touch 109.5 million hectares (mh). Paddy cultivation jumped 10.8% from last year to 40.9 mh, while pulses fell 6.6% to 12.1 mh, including a 2.6% dip in tur (pigeon pea or arhar) and a 0.7% decrease in urad (black gram) to 4.3 mh and 3.2 mh, respectively.

Delhi Metro: PM Modi to inaugurate extension of the Airport Express Line, train speed to touch 120 kmph
In addition to the new station, Delhi Metro will also increase the operational speed of Metro trains on Airport Express Line from 90 kilometres per hour to 120 kmph. This will help commuters save three minutes of travel time as the metro will take just 19 minutes between New Delhi and Dwarka Sector – 21 station, a Delhi Metro statement said. Passenger operations on this new extension start from 3 PM on Sunday. “With the addition of this section, the total length of the Airport Express Line from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector – 25 will become 24.9 kilometres,” the statement added. Delhi’s Airport Express Line now has seven Metro stations.

New Delhi: Zooom Airlines, earlier called Zoom Air, has revived air operator certificate from the Indian civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation to commence flight operations in India, the airline said on Friday. Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Inc's supplier Dixon Technologies India Ltd will reportedly open a massive new factory on the outskirts of New Delhi, Bloomberg News reported. Chinese-based company Xiaomi has been compelled to partner with Dixon for smartphone assembly because India is pressing Chinese companies to localize everything from manufacturing to distribution of devices. As per the Bloomberg report, Dixon will invest more than ₹4 billion ($48.2 million) over three years in the factory, which is spread over more than 300,000 square feet or the size of six football fields, and will largely produce Xiaomi smartphones.
