NEW DELHI : The Revenue Department has tightened the rules under the anti-money laundering law to make reporting obligations more stringent for entities like banks, stock brokers and insurers, showed an official order. The Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, brought out by the Revenue Department seeks to ensure more effective compliance of the reporting requirements. The order redfines the ‘principal officer of a reporting entity’, the ‘beneficial owner’ of partnership firms and the list of records to be maintained physically by the reporting entities.

New Delhi: India will showcase its indigenous digital stacks and apps in the upcoming G20 Summit as it will invite delegates to visit the Digital India experience zone at the venue over the weekend of September 9 and 10. G20 Leaders’ summit this weekend will discuss a template and various building blocks for coordinated action on dealing with crypto assets, potentially paving the way for a global regulatory framework. A synthesis paper prepared by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Financial Stability Board (FSB) at the behest of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors on overall crypto asset regulation will be taken up by the leaders. “The synthesis paper will lay down a comprehensive roadmap and building blocks for a coordinated global regulatory framework… Leaders will take a final call on this,” said a senior government source. India has been pushing for a global regulatory framework on crypto assets under its G20 presidency as it strongly believes they cannot be regulated in isolation by any single country. India's long-term economic growth present plenty of room for Indian and Scotch whiskies to prosper in the world's biggest whisky market, an industry association said on Wednesday.Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) also said that the proposed reduction in import duty by India under a free trade agreement between New Delhi and London would not only help boost exports of Scotch whiskey from the UK, but consumers here will also get more choice as smaller producers enter the market. India and the UK are negotiating a free trade agreement. It will also benefit India-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brands by reducing import costs. The association also said that imported Scotch whisky will pose «very little» direct competition to local Indian whisky because of its small size here. A large portion of the export of Scotch whisky to India is in bulk, and the bottled versions are only 24 per cent of exports.
