NEW DELHI : The government has sought comments from the public on its draft guidelines for the prevention and regulation of dark patterns, which are digital design interfaces used to manipulate customer behaviour, the ministry of consumer affairs said on Thursday. These draft guidelines have been framed after detailed deliberations with all stakeholders including e-commerce platforms, law firms, government and voluntary consumer organisations (VCOs).

Delhi area, which houses the G20 Summit venue and hotels where delegates will be staying, will be put under a tight security ring from Friday morning and there will a slew of traffic restrictions in place, officials said. The movement of vehicles will be regulated in the New Delhi district as the area will be considered as Controlled Zone-I from 5 am on Friday till 11.59 pm on Sunday due the G20 summit. However, movement of ambulances will be allowed and local residents of the area and tourists accommodated there will be permitted to move after presenting proper identification papers, police said. They further stated that all online delivery services, except medicines, will be barred in the New Delhi district during the G20 Summit. According to officials, police will be maintaining a hawk-eye vigil during the summit, with the assistance of over 50,000 personnel, K9 dog squads and mounted police. In an advisory released on August 25, the Delhi Traffic Police has listed out restrictions on the movement of goods vehicles, buses, auto-rickshaws and taxis and has urged people to make maximum use of metro services in view of regulated movement of traffic. Police have also urged people not to visit India Gate and Kartavya Path for activities such as walking, cycling and picnicking in view of the G20 Summit. Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S S Yadav had said as India Gate and Kartavya Path have been «designated in the controlled zone», the Delhi Police appeals to people not to visit the area for «walking, cycling or picnicking» during the G20 Summit. China on Thursday expressed its support for the inclusion of the African Union (AU) in the G20, saying it is the «first country to explicitly support» the inclusion of the African bloc in the grouping. In a recent interview with PTI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India backs the inclusion of the African Union as a full member of the Group of 20 largest economies as no plan for the future of the planet can be successful without the representation and recognition of all voices. «China is the first country to explicitly voice support for the AU's accession to G20,» Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told a media briefing here while replying to a question about reports that AU will be admitted to G20 at the New Delhi summit to be held on September 9-10. «At the recent China-Africa leaders dialogue, President Xi Jinping once again stressed that China actively supports the full membership of AU in the G20,» said. Mao said China and AU are important partners in building high-level commentary with a shared future and safeguarding international equity and justice. «We support the AU in playing a bigger role in global governance,» she said. In the last few years, India has been positioning itself as a leading voice, flagging concerns, challenges and aspirations of the Global South or the developing nations, especially the African continent. Prime Minister Modi has been leading from the front on the issue of the African Union's membership of the G20.
