NEW DELHI : The El Nino phenomenon that developed in July has remained weak, but has affected rainfall in August due to changes in atmospheric conditions, India Meteorological Department (IMD) director-general Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, adding it will turn moderate in September and remain strong till December. Mohapatra said below-normal rainfall is expected in the rest of August as well. In a wide-ranging interview, the IMD chief spoke of rainfall distribution and deficiency, forecast errors and extreme weather events.

NEW DELHI : Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) is gearing up to introduce beverage brand Campa Cola to international markets, starting with regions in Asia and Africa, the company said on Monday. The firm is the packaged consumer goods arm of Reliance Industries Ltd and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures (RRVL). The launch will take place at Isro’s Sriharikota launch base at 11:50 a.m., aboard Isro’s workhorse rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)’s C57 mission. NEW DELHI : The National Company Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) extended a crucial lifeline to the grounded airline Jet Airways on Monday, offering much-needed relief for its revival prospects. The airline’s successful bidder Jalan Kalrock Capital Consortium (JKC) received an extension till 30 September to settle dues totaling ₹350 crore owed to lenders of the airline. This adjustment of the performance bank guarantee effectively reduces the total payable amount to just ₹200 crore.

Indian government has appointed Geetika Srivastava, joint secretary (Indo-Pacific) in the external affairs ministry, to head the post of chargé d’affaires in the Indian high commission in Islamabad, said a report by Hindustantimes.com citing people familiar with the matter. New Delhi: Industry body Retailers Association of India (RAI) on Monday said restrictions imposed on retail stores, malls, and restaurants during the upcoming G20 Summit, which is set to take place in Delhi from 08 September to 10th September, could hinder business in the capital. “While RAI commends the Delhi government’s decision to declare a three-day public holiday in the capital, they strongly advise revisiting the comprehensive shutdown of retail operations. Pledging complete adherence to any Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provided, RAI suggests a more measured approach to closures, potentially focusing on peak times or specific areas close to G20 venues like Lutyens Delhi," the association said in a note released Monday.
