New Delhi: The coal ministry has unveiled an ambitious plan to almost double India's coal production by fiscal 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 7.7%. Ecommerce major Flipkart has started reaching out to sellers ahead of its annual flagship sale, ‘The Big Billion Days’. Walmart-owned Flipkart on Wednesday conducted an on-ground seller conclave in Jaipur, which a statement from the company said was attended by 500 sellers. The ecommerce firm had held a similar conclave in Delhi on August 18, where over 1,200 entrepreneurs participated. Flipkart said it plans to hold more such conclaves to arm sellers with the necessary skills, insights, and tools.

The ministry had in February directed the imported coal-based plants to run optimally till June 15 starting March 16, under section 11 of the Electricity Act in anticipation of higher demand in summer. It was then extended till September end. However, electricity demand met in India reached record highs this month touching 234 GW on August 17.

New Delhi: GAIL expects its natural gas transmission volumes to expand 12% and polymer sales to double this financial year, its chairman has said. “Gas transmission and gas marketing are the key drivers of GAIL’s business and during FY23, we transmitted 107 million metric standard cubic meters a day (MMSCMD) of natural gas, marketed 95 MMSCMD of natural gas and sold 399 thousand metric tonnes (TMT) of polymer,” GAIL chairman Sandeep Kumar Gupta told shareholders at their annual meet. “Current year seems more promising and it is estimated that your company will achieve over 120 MMSCMD of natural gas transmission, over 100 MMSCMD of natural gas sales and 800 TMT of polymer sales.” GAIL also expects the new levelized tariff determined by the regulator for its integrated pipelines to help boost its transmission revenues.

NEW DELHI : India may extend duty restrictions to exports of non-basmati parboiled rice and impose a minimum export price (MEP) for the basmati variety depending on the situation, following the ban on white rice exports in response to escalating prices of the staple. The government is exploring to impose a 20% duty on non-basmati parboiled rice exports, while an MEP of around $1,250 per tonne could be levied on basmati rice, two officials aware of the plan said on condition of anonymity. However, the decision will depend on several factors, including domestic rice prices, they added.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has raised an alert about falsified versions of Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 Receptor Agonist (GLP-1-RA) products sold at physical outlets and over social media after a warning in this respect from the World Health Organization (WHO) last week. The drug regulator has advised doctors to prescribe alternatives and inform patients about any likely adverse effects of the drug.

The government’s Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) will award a star rating out of five for adult and child occupant protection respectively to passenger vehicles based on their performance in a crash test at a speed of 64 kmph. The test, which is completely voluntary for automobile companies, will begin from October.
