NEW DELHI : The long-delayed privatization of IDBI Bank may be about to speed up, with the central bank examining the suitability of potential bidders. Prem Watsa-backed CSB Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Emirates NBD are among those who have submitted initial bids for the government's majority stake in IDBI Bank, media reports have said. According to two people aware of the matter, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is currently studying whether the potential bidders adhere to its 'fit and proper criteria' for running a financial services entity.

While launching new laptop models across XPS, Alienware and Inspiron portfolio, Dell Technologies Vice President and Managing Director for Consumer and Small Business Raj Kumar Rishi said that the company will stick to its strategy of bringing the latest technologies across various price points and focus on financing of laptops to make devices affordable for consumers. «Share of gaming in the PC segment has increased. We see gaming and college and school-going youth to continue driving growth for us,» Rishi said. The company unveiled new XPS laptops with Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU to support artificial intelligence applications.

New Delhi: The country's imports of personal computers from China dipped 3 per cent to USD 917 million during November-February 2024, according to commerce ministry data. The inbound shipments stood at USD 950.22 million from the neighbouring country during November-February 2023. Similarly, imports contracted about 48 per cent to USD 917 million from China during November 2023-February 2024 as against USD 1.75 billion during July-October 2023, the data showed. Imports of personal computers into India also declined 55 per cent year-on-year to USD 1.06 billion from the world during November-February 2024.

Trinamool Congress delegation will meet Election Commission officials in New Delhi on Monday to complain about «misuse» of central investigating agencies against TMC leaders and party candidates. The delegation will be led by TMC's Rajya Sabha leader Derek O'Brien and MP Dola Sen is also likely to meet the full bench of the Election Commission. «The BJP is misusing central agencies against us. The way NIA, ED and CBI are working and targeting TMC leaders is shameful. We would request the EC to ensure a level playing field for all political parties,» Sen told reporters at the airport before leaving for New Delhi. The TMC alleged on Sunday an «unholy alliance» between the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and BJP ahead of elections, prompting the central investigating agency to deny any mala fide intention and label the entire controversy as «unfortunate».

New Delhi: Chennai-based space start-up Agnikul Cosmos on Sunday called off the maiden launch of its 3D-printed, semi-cryogenic Agnibaan rocket about 129 seconds before lift-off citing communication in the onboard hardware. Sunday's was the third attempt at the test launch of the Agnibaan Sub-Orbital Technology Demonstrator (SOrTeD) since March 22, when the test flight was first scheduled to be held at the Agnikul Launch Pad at ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. New Delhi, The number of drunken driving challans issued in the first three months of 2024 saw a staggering rise of 1,550 per cent compared to the same period in 2022, according to Delhi Traffic Police. During the year 2024, from January 1 to March 31, the Delhi Traffic Police initiated special drives against drunken driving and booked 6,591 violators compared to 399 in 2022 in the same period, the traffic police said in a statement on Sunday. Compared to the corresponding period last year, a rise of 22 per cent was witnessed with 5,384 challans issued for this offence in 2023, they said. This concerning trend underscores the urgent need for increased awareness and stringent enforcement of traffic regulations to ensure public safety on Delhi's roads, the police said.

NEW DELHI : Banks not recognizing any interest income on bad loans by following RBI’s prudential norms does not absolve borrowers from the obligation to show the interest liability on their financial statements, audit regulator National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) said in a regulatory order. NFRA said defaulters are not free of the obligation to recognise interest liability as banks are required to maintain a record of accrued interest on bad loans and do not release the borrower from the contractual liability to pay interest.

The allegations can further dent lukewarm India-Canada ties.
